But most people said that English Literature seems to be more useful to future career. I wanted to know if English Literature is a boring subject and whether it's hard to study. I also figured that there's only around 17% of lesson time through the whole school year and the rest of the time we will be doing self-study.

Here’s why being an English major is actually the hardest. 1. We read so much we might as well live at the library. English majors have a ton of reading, and not all of it is as glitzy as Gatsby. We go back to the basics –Ovid, Chaucer, and Shakespeare, infamous writers with notoriously difficult writing.

English literature degrees are “just for fun”. One of the main misconceptions about English literature degrees is that students do it purely for fun, and not because it is part of their career plan.
