I've been a scribe for 2 years and a trainer. Aim to start about 55 wpm and you'll improve over time from there. Starting at about 50 is ok too but 55-60 will make your training shifts easier.

Yeah, I think you'd need to hit at least 50 wpm because I usually have to type over 70 wpm to keep up with what the doc or patient is saying. I had a typing test at my interview too. Just practice, there are tons of free typing programs online.

You may be asked to take a typing test as well so they can see what your wpm (or words per minute) is. The faster you type, the better you’ll be selected. Most places will take a 50 or 60 wpm or above, but personally unless you can type 80 wpm and above, you will struggle a lot. Should they like you, then yay!
